Since the fabrication of transistor and IC's, nanotechnology is bringing yet another revolution in science and technology. This revolution bridges over different disciplines such as chemistry, physics and biology. The present talk is divided into two parts: the first one will present an overview of nanotechnology and the second part will include a discussion of the growth of nano crystals/structures using Buffer Layer Assisted technique.

Arshad Saleem Bhatti

Dr Bhatti received his M.Sc. Physics from the University of the Punjab, Lahore and M.Phil. & Ph.D. in Microelectronics/Optoelectronics from Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK. He has also done post-doctoral research at the University of Rom in Italy, Nottingham Univeristy, UK and recently at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, US. Presently at COMSATS, Islamabad, he is Chairman of the Department of Physics, that he set up. His research interests encompass materials science, nanostructures, optoelectronics and low temperature physics.
