KSS Executive Member becomes a Rhodes Scholar

We are delighted to announce that our dear member, science communicator, and friend, Muhammad Hamza Waseem, has been awarded the Rhodes Scholarship. The world’s oldest and most prestigious fellowship program provides students with two years of study at Oxford University in England.

Hamza Waseem, hailing from Lahore, is a final year student at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. He is the co-founder of Spectra: an online magazine aiming to enhance public understanding of science and shape the narrative of science journalism in Pakistan. Hamza has been a major asset in our Science Mela series and it is due to his passion and perseverance that we are made so proud today.

We congratulate Hamza, his friends, and family, and wish him luck for his future endeavors. Indeed, he is an inspiration to all of us and we believe that he will do wonders in the field of science communication, especially in Pakistan.
