Explaining the Nobel Prize in Physics 2016

David J. Thouless, F. Duncan M. Haldane, J. Michael Kosterlitz were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for the year 2016 for their monumental discoveries on topological materials and topological phase transitions. Their work, over the years, holds the key to describing superconductors, magnetic thin films, quantum phase transitions, and the astounding role of topology in the behavior of certain phases of matter.

Khwarizmi Science Society’s team led by Ahmed Waqas Zubairi met with Professor of Physics at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Dr. Kashif Sabeeh to learn more about why all of this is exciting.

Here is the full-length interview.
